Tony Diaz

My artistic practice started at a very young age when I would create and build different worlds out of pencil and markers. Those years were a jump start for my imagination and kept my brain turning and drawing until I could finally evolve and match my thoughts with my ability. I have always been drawn to different realms and realities with mythology, folklore and stories and in that essence I like to include all sorts of different aspects, Easter eggs and hidden stories in my paintings. I have been painting murals since 2019 and in that amount of time have traveled around the US to paint (Portland, Memphis, Michigan, Texas to name a few) and have also painted a total of 6 murals in New Zealand. My practice originates with my illustration and when I m not painting I am creating band gig/tour posters (Morgan Wallen, Nathaniel Rateliff, California Honeydrops some examples) and I am also working remotely for Innova the disc golf company designing stamps for tournaments, pros and just for the public. So I am very comfortable with pencil to paper, digital work and printmaking.

Murals for me have always been a dream. To control the environment and give it life, emotion, wonder and enjoyment by something you have expressed and put sweat, back and time into is like nothing else. In my process I am a “bucket painter” so no aerosol except for my doodle grid when I need to use it. Relaying my illustrations to grow into a exponential size is always something kind of mind blowing. I have a significant amount of experience with both inside and out and feel very comfortable with heights and on ladders, lifts and scaffolds. As for the time it takes to complete I can hold my own and paint to almost the same speed of aerosol. I have never left a project uncompleted and have always delivered in the time frame available and given. I will make a comment next to my photos for the length of time they took just so you have a reference.
